Getting arrested
Cops don't cuff someone who's running: they shoot to kill. If you'd rather end up in a cell than in the morgue, giving yourself up is your call.
Giving up#
It's the only way to end up in cuffs: otherwise, they shoot. Wanted? Hold X, on foot or in a car that's almost stopped. Even from far away, even with no cop in sight. You get out of your car, put your gun away, get on your knees. The cops hold their fire and the closest one comes to cuff you. The Hands up emote on the wheel does the same.
- On your knees, your stars stay: the patrol comes to pick you up where you are.
- Nobody shows up within 60 s with no cop around: the surrender falls through.
- X again to get back up. The chase is back on.
- 15 s between switches: no surrendering just to dodge bullets.

Getting arrested costs you time. Dying costs you your gear. Your call.
The sentence#
It depends on the stars you had when you got arrested. Surrendering multiplies it by 0.7.

Time only ticks while you're online and in your cell: logging off gets you nowhere. Your booking sheet shows up right after the cuffs. When you reach your cell, everything you carry goes to the locker at the desk: see the prison.
The convoy#
If a crewmate is online (or you have a henchman with you), you don't go straight to a cell: a van drives you to Bolingbroke, sirens blaring, one cruiser ahead, one behind. Your crew gets a text and sees the van on their map.

- Drop all 3 cops in the vanIncluding the one sitting in the back with you: open the rear doors. Your crew gets the count every time a cop goes down.
- FreeYou never got booked: you keep all your gear. But you leave with ★★★★, and your rescuers with ★★★★.
After 5 min on the road, the convoy has arrived. Alone, with no crew online: straight to a cell.

A van stuck for counts as arrived: block it, but kill fast.
