Pink slip races

How it works#

It's a street race like any other: flash your lights while stopped next to the other driver, or use a meet's race board. Except when you pick the stake, you go for pink slip instead of cash. On the board, you can sign up for "pink slip" or "both": the safeguards are checked as soon as you sign up.

1. Size up the carsThe challenge card puts both cars side by side: stats, engine, gearbox, brakes, turbo, value. If the value gap is huge, it warns you.
2. Accept with your eyes openOnce the light turns green, there's no backing out.
3. WinThe loser gets out, and their car goes straight into your garage with every mod.
4. Frame the certificateEnd card stamped TRANSFERRED for the winner, SIGNED OVER for the other guy.

The rules#

• Reputation level 3 for both drivers.
• Not during First Steps.
• Never between members of the same gang.
• Not the same two drivers twice within 24 h, win or lose.
• Your own car, the one from your garage, not stolen, and yours for at least 60 min. A car you just bought or won can't go straight back on the line.
• The car on the card has to be the one you start in: switching cars before the green light calls it all off.

What costs you your car#

Die, get busted, wreck your car or leave it for more than 10 s: race lost, car lost. Disconnecting too: the title still goes to the winner.

If nobody makes it in time, it's a draw and everyone keeps their ride.

What you get#

The other guy's car, and +210 reputation. Every car you take counts toward the "Cars taken" leaderboard, your collection is in the My record app, and the weekly "Win a pink slip race" challenge can show up in your challenges from level 3.
