Orders and gear
Your hired muscle can handle itself, but they follow orders better than they think. One wheel for orders, one key to arm them.
The order wheel#
Hold B, point at an order with the mouse, let go.
| Order | What it does |
|---|---|
| Follow me | They stick to you. Mid-fight, they break off for 10 s to run with you. |
| Hold position | They stay put and defend the spot. |
| Attack my target | Aim at someone first, then give the order. |
| Regroup | Everyone falls back to you, 8 s without fighting. |
| Cease fire | Not a single shot for 10 s. |
| Get out / Get in | They leave the car, or climb back in. |
| Drive | A hire takes your wheel, you slide over. |
Drive#
The Driver if you have one, otherwise any hire nearby. Drop a waypoint on the map: he floors it there, stops for 30 s, then cruises around if you're still aboard. No waypoint: he cruises by the rules of the road, or loses the cops without them if you're wanted.
In the wheel, Low-key / fast driving sets how he gets to the waypoint. J (or Stop / Go in the wheel) stops him on the spot, hazards on, then gets him rolling again. Give the Drive order again to take the wheel back.
Gearing up#
Facing one of your hires, on foot, press Y: his sheet opens, with his health, his stripes, his gun and yours side by side.
- Give him a gun from your loadout. You get it back if he leaves, it's gone if he dies.
- Take it back whenever you like.
- Hand him your vest, or buy him a new one for $750.
- Resupply: a box of the right ammo from your stock, otherwise $400.
No explosives or launchers for them. And nothing while you're wanted or mid-fight.
The Sniper engages , where the others stop at . Under ★★, : they're coming to cuff you, not kill you.
