The desert arena
Stab CityA dusty pen in Stab City, a bookmaker and a crowd placing bets. Your dog against another player's, your stake against his. Nobody dies: you leave injured or proud.
Before you go#
The Desert arena is in Stab City, marked on the map (and the route is in the My dog app). Everything goes through the bookmaker: [E] for challenges, bets and the leaderboard.
Your dog must be called and next to you, and fit: not KO, not injured, not starving, not still winded from his last fight. One fight at a time in the pen.
Challenging another owner#
- Pick your opponentThe bookmaker lists the owners on site with their dog called.
- Set the stakeFrom $500 to $50,000, in cash.
- He answersHe has 60 s to accept at the bookmaker. On accept, both stakes are taken.
- IntroductionThe dogs enter the pen. For 25 s, the crowd bets.
- FightThe winner takes both stakes, minus 5% for the house.
A lightweight can challenge a heavyweight. Never the other way around. A small dog that beats a big one earns the Giant slayer title on the leaderboard.
The fight#
No button mashing: the fight plays out exchange by exchange. 5 rounds of 4 exchanges, one exchange every 2.5 s. In each exchange, both dogs attack once, the quicker one first.
- Strength deals the damage.
- Stamina gives health and wind. A dog out of breath hits softer.
- Speed lands hits and strikes first. Lightweights dodge better.
- A dog in a bad mood fights worse.
KO at zero health. Nobody down at the end: points decision, on the percentage of health left.
Your orders#
During the fight, three keys:
| Key | Order | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cheer on | +25% damage on his next 2 attacks |
| 2 | Calm down | +25 wind, and he snaps out of his rage |
| 3 | Call back | Forfeit: you lose your stake, but your dog isn't injured |
Each order recharges for a few exchanges. Dismissing your dog, leaving or logging off mid-fight is also a forfeit. If it happens before the opening bell, everyone gets refunded.
After#
| Winner | Loser | |
|---|---|---|
| Money | Both stakes, minus the cut | His stake |
| Health | Rests 10 min before another fight | Injured 45 min (unless forfeit) |
| Mood | Up | Down |
| Rating | Up | Down |
The vet heals the injury right away for $1,200. Both dogs are hungry after the fight.
Each dog has an Elo rating starting at 1,000. Beating a higher-rated dog earns more points. The bookmaker shows the server's top 10 dogs, wins and losses.
Betting#
Just passing by to watch? During the introduction, bet $100 to $20,000 in cash on one of the two dogs, one bet per fight. Not on your own fight.
Bets are pooled: the pot of all bets, minus 5%, goes to those who backed the winner, pro rata. A bet pays at most 5 times its amount. Nobody on the winner? Everyone gets refunded.
Traits matter in the pen. The Feisty one hits . The Lucky one goes from . The Grumpy one sometimes flies into a rage: ; Calm down stops it.
The Coward one and lands fewer hits. Below , a dog hits : calming him at the right time is sometimes worth more than cheering.
