Vehicle trunks
NewYour ride has a trunk. Cash, guns, ammo, drugs, snacks: whatever you put in follows it to the garage. And burns with it.
How it works#
Stand at the back of a player's car (the front if that's where its trunk is), on foot, press [E]: your inventory opens with the trunk next to it. Its contents on the left, what you carry on the right. "Put in the trunk" on your stuff, "Take" on its stuff, or everything at once.
The contents live on the car's record: they follow it to the garage, from one garage to another, with the tow truck, even to a new owner. Two players at the same trunk see the same thing, live.
Who can open it#
- You, and anyone you lent a key to.
- Anyone at all if the car isn't locked, or if someone hacked the lock with a device. For them it says "Search the trunk": whatever they take, they're stealing from you.
Lock it. Always.
Space#
Depends on the car. The sportier it is, the smaller the trunk.

Ammo counts in multiples of what you can carry of each type. Boats, helicopters and planes have a trunk too; bicycles and open-wheel cars don't.
Stored guns keep their attachments but not their ammo: that stays on you. You can only store guns you bought or picked up, and you can't take back a gun you're already holding.
A destroyed car takes its trunk with it. Insurance gives back the car, not what was inside. And a car with a full trunk can't be sold, not at the dealership, not at auction.
