Insurance and towing
Your car burned? Insurance gives it back brand new for a small cut. Left it on the other side of the map? The tow truck brings it home.
Insurance#
A destroyed car turns into a wreck in your list, and you're told right away what it costs to get it back. You don't need to be nearby: a car someone stole from you and torched far away counts too.
- Go to a garageAny public lot or one of your garages, on foot on the marker. Not from the phone.
- Pay10% of what you paid for it, bank first then cash. Two-click confirm from its card.
- Get it backIt returns brand new to its usual space, ready to roll.
| Car price | Insurance |
|---|---|
| $50,000 | $5,000 |
| $250,000 | $25,000 |
| $1,000,000 | $100,000 |
"Brand new" means the body and the engine: parts and paint you paid for at LS Customs are still there.
A wreck can't be stored or towed: insurance or nothing. It vanishes from the street after 60 s.
The trunk burns with the car. Cash, guns, drugs: all gone up in smoke, insurance only covers the metal.
The tow truck#
A car you took out and left somewhere, nobody inside: from the garage card or the Garage app on your phone, recall it for $250. It goes straight back to its space, trunk contents included. You can also show it on your map and go get it yourself.
No tow truck:
- for a stolen car: find it, it's tracked on the map;
- for a car with someone sitting in it;
- for a wreck: the tow truck writes it off, off to insurance.
Logging off does the same job for free: your cars that are out go back to their garage on their own.
For a chopped-and-swapped car, insurance is based on , not the showroom value. A bargain, on top of everything else.
